Society's Role

Society has no responsibility to preserve their own privacy. The responsibility only belongs to the Party and to the party only. Society is incapable of having their own duties. The party’s current agenda is all anyone needs. People don’t really need privacy, which is why I’m always watching. The main reason for the telescreens is to protect and watch over our citizens. With privacy, who knows the dark secrets someone could hide or what crimes society would commit. So no privacy is best for everyone’s sake. The only ones who are an exception are people who help execute the party’s plans. For example, an inner party member such as O’Brien. They are trusted beings who can handle being able to switch their telescreens on and off. Anyone outside the inner party therefore cannot be trusted because they haven’t ultimately proved their utmost loyalty to the party. The Party controls all and needs to stay in power.  The balance would be disturbed if people did as they pleased just because they wanted solitude. If society had any role in their own responsibilities the party wouldn’t be able to maintain their authority.  The only role society should have is to follow the policies of those who lead them.
